About What's the best way to travel with two cats from Minneapolis, MN, to Portland, OR without a car

What's the best way to travel with two cats from Minneapolis, MN, to Portland, OR without a car?
I don't have a car and am considering moving to Portland from Minneapolis. I would prefer to NOT have to rent and drive a U-Haul and would prefer NOT to fly, but it's looking like those might be the only options, since Amtrak and Greyhound don't allow animals. Any advice on how to do this cheaply and efficiently?

The best way I know of is in cat carriers, and to see if their vet would reccomend a tranquilizer so they dont panic during the trip. I have only done short trips with my felines and they didnt do so good so I wish you the best of luck if you move. As to doing it cheaply I dont have a clue but One aireline I would reccomend checking is SunCoast, I think they will work with you if you have animals but I could be wrong. All I know of is they treated us wonderfully on our last trip with them.
Answer 2 :
Considering the amount of rental applications I get from residents of the Twin Cities, I would say it's a safe bet that your city's craigslist has a fairly healthy rideshare section. That would be the cheapest option. If it were me, I'd rent a car one-way. It's actually cheaper than you think if you call all of the rental car companies in your area (and NOT just the ones based at the airport) to get the best price. Then, search on google for coupon codes to use at the rental car company's website. Or find someone with an AAA or Costco card to give up their promo code. Finally, after you've found the cheapest price, call the front desk of the rental car company and tell them that another rental car company quoted you "X" dollars, but you'd prefer not to use them because of their track record, and could you please give me the same deal for "X-$50?" This actually works more than you think

Answer 1 :
Bus?
Answer 2 :
Walk or ride a bike! You did not say how long you wanted to take to get there you only asked for the cheapest way.
Answer 3 :
Walk... only costs a pair of Shoes. Clothes are optional, but I would probably make the investment because the legal fees associated with going without can be quite pricey.
Answer 4 :
I would look for cheap airfare on airtran or midwest and fly there.
Answer 5 :
My two home towns!! The cheapest plane ticket I've bought recently is $188. It is about 10-11 hours in a car, depending on your car, you could spend probably about $90 on gas. (I'm thinking a tank and a half each way at $30 a pop) A bus would be really really long. And I imagine not even half price compared to flying. If you are up to riding with strangers, you could put an add at Craigslist for a ride

In June I have to travel to Minneapolis on business. What to do for fun?
I went to the Mall of America last time I was there, and ate at Bubba Gumps (yummy!)..What else should I do while I am there? I don't know my way around, and don't know any tourist spots. Thanks! Idahotaz- This is a business trip.

Drink until you pass out in your hotel room. Just kidding... I have been to Minneapolis... aside from Mall of America, there isn't much to do. Have you checked out Minneapolis' tourist bureau website? They usually list the popular stuff and the site would be maintained by people who actually live there.
Answer 2 :
I'd like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it's hard to understand why people don't stay home. Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere - anywhere but home.
Answer 3 :
Check out the sculpture garden at the Minneapolis Art Museum - it's very nice

Answer 1 :
I don't see commuting between MPLS and Fargo everyday as an option. It is about a 4 hour drive each way. You should look into renting a room.
Answer 2 :
obviously you will take a room in MNPS.
